For those of you that got a chance to grab the Android app back in the day….if any of you are still around that is…I’m guessing it stopped working since the move, and I know it kinda sucked, but should we fix/update it?

Still trying to iron out some kinks, like thumbnails not showing animated gifs and some other stuff.

If you prefer the Desktop version, you can press the Menu button on the top right and hit “Switch to Desktop”. The button on the top left is the Home button. Press that whenever you get lost.

Some of you might be getting or might have gotten a warning message when you visited the site saying it contains malicious software. It seems like some of the advertisers on the ad network we used tried to sneak in bad scripts in order to show you more ads on your computer. I’m not gonna name the ad network so I don’t blow up their spot. Although they probably could’ve taken precautions to prevent it, it’s not really their fault. Needless to say, we’ll be using a different ad network in the future.

Anyway we removed all the offending ads and sent a request to Google to review the site. The site’s clean now, but the warning message still comes up because we still have to wait till it gets reviewed and taken off the blacklists. If anything, the new mobile site will be up by Friday or Saturday and it’ll be a completely different site.

Meanwhile, check bigassgifs.com for some new shit.

So here’s a list of everywhere Booty of the Day was banned in the past 2 years, in chronological order…

1. Twitpic
2. Facebook – 4 times
3. Google Plus – temporarily
4. Google Android Maket
5. Tumblr

So what’s “The Man” trying to tell us? I guess it’s… “We don’t like BOTD, they’re too sexy for the world wide web.”

…BOTD was shut down by Tumblr last week without any warning, along with 3 other BOTD blogs,  and we’ve been rebuilding ever since.

The bad news is…

• didn’t get a chance to transfer everything over before the termination
• still have to figure out how to make gif sets/galleries here (UPDATE: Done)
• we have to redo the mobile site… hopefully by a week or two (Done)

The good news is…

• been meaning to put up a real site for BOTD for 6 months now and finally got the chance
• lots more freedom to do what we want, less restrictions, no limits, and a lot more options
• no restrictions on gif file size or length/duration (check out the new and improved animated gifs here)
• no restrictions on gif image size (check out the new Big Ass Gifs site)
• we can finally finish up the 2nd version of the BOTD Android app without cutting corners
• a lot better on the technical side, as far as development options, SEO, and the blogging platform in general
• no downtime
• no more fear of termination, and everything gets backed up automatically
• no limits on types of posts, e.g.,  don’t be surprised if you see a Big Ass Puzzle game
• this list will continue to grow as we discover more benefits…
